Clinic
The Lemons · A calm, private sanctuary for healing
Why The Lemons?
The Lemons is an annexe to my home in Walton Highway, near Wisbech. Why The Lemons? Because apparently there was a time that folk used to bottle lemonade here!
There is plenty of off-road parking on the drive right outside, so no need to inconvenience traffic, neighbours or yourself. Toilet facilities are readily available.
My practice is licensed by Kings Lynn and West Norfolk BC; I abide by all relevant Codes of Practice and I am comprehensively insured. Strict patient confidentiality is observed at all times.
Opening Hours
Treatment is by appointment only, between 10am and 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. (Closed Wednesdays & Sundays).
How to Prepare for a Consultation
Once your appointment is agreed, I shall email you directions to the clinic, some things to be aware of (e.g. wearing loose clothing, making sure you’ve eaten etc.) and a secure, on-line, detailed questionnaire for you to complete in advance.
What to Expect During a Treatment
During your first consultation we will discuss the questionnaire in depth. Your pulse will be taken at both wrists and your tongue inspected. All your information gives me a picture of where imbalances may be occurring in your body and is used to formulate a diagnosis on which your ongoing treatment will be based.
Dependent upon your condition, weekly treatments are generally recommended initially, becoming less frequent as you improve. However, in an acute or recent condition, more frequent treatments may be called for.
For the acupuncture treatment you will be asked to lie on a couch, only exposing the areas necessary for needling. Most people find needling virtually painless: very fine (little more than the width of a human hair) single-use, pre-sterilised needles are used to stimulate specific acupuncture points on your body.
These needles generally induce any one of a variety of localised sensations once in place – tingling, warmth, numbness or heaviness are common. The needles are generally left in situ for up to 20 minutes, during which time you will be encouraged to relax. Acupuncture can be calming to the point that some people may feel a little tired or sleepy, so please be careful driving straight after your treatment.
If Chinese herbs are prescribed, only those produced by Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant companies are used, ensuring pharmaceutical integrity and absence of contaminants.
Appointment Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to keep an appointment, 24 hours notice is required, otherwise I reserve the right to charge the full fee.
